Desmids of Gorce Mts. Geobotanical studies

The presented work is the first comprehensive study on desmids of mountainous areas Gorce region in Poland. Mts flora order Desmidiales comprises 20 genera and 247 species. most diverse are Cosmarium with 99 taxa, Closterium 39 Staurastrum 38 taxa Euastrum 17 taxa. All reported described documented by original hand drawings microphotographs. Environmental data geographical coordinates included for all studied sites. Among recorded eight (Actinotaenium borgeanum, Actinotaenium gelidum, perminutum, alpestre, dispersum, paragranatoides, sublaterale, pyramidatum) new Polish flora. An important factor affecting biodiversity area human activity. In typically anthropogenic habitats, which include roads paths, 157 species were found (63.7% desmid flora). Many montane species, such as pusillum decedens, associated wet moss rocks, had secondary habitats there. A group 21 only can be considered anthropophytes area. There also semi-natural form meadows that persist due to situation similar vascular plants. Clearings used until 1980s showed significantly higher richness than clearings where grazing has been abandoned a long time. Overall, activity contributed an increase diversity region.
